Made in the northeastern Scottish port of Peterhead, this extremely rare silver wine label bears the name MADEIRA to the front.
The label is rectangular in form with a decorated floral scroll border. To the reverse side is the highly prized "PHD" Scottish provincial town mark for Peterhead alongside the "WF" maker's mark of William Ferguson. In addition, the label was legalised by being sent for assay and bears Edinburgh hallmarks. The condition is fine.
This very rare label sold for £2600+ buyer's premium when it appeared at a Woolley & Wallis auction on 30th April 2008!
