Phipps & Robinson Silver Vinaigrette, 1801

This is a very attractive Georgian silver vinaigrette by the London-based partnership, Phipps & Robinson.

Most vinaigrettes date from post-1820 and are Birmingham-made, so it is a nice change for this early example to have been made by one of the top London workshops. It has a delicate flower-head diaper effect engraved design to the top and underside and a gilt interior with similar diaper style hinged grill with drilled holes.

The box is in first class condition with a clear set of full hallmarks to the inside base and part marks to the inside cover.
