Samuel Pemberton was a master at designing silver caddy spoons and using the same content for a multitude of variations on the theme. The simple spoon with pear-shaped bowl was the most popular and engraved in many different ways, but those with pierced bowls are the most highly sought and this example is the zenith of the design: the bowl is engraved with a flower head with leafy tendrils and certain individual leaves pierced out. The rim of the bowl is enhanced with pierced crescents and the handle attractively engraved and including script monogram.

This Georgian caddy spoon is in fine condition with crisp engraving and clear hallmarks (curiously the date letter "f" is stamped upside down!).
