Pierced Silver Sherry Label, c.1790 Phipps & Robinson

This is a really attractive, late 18th century silver wine label from the workshop of the important makers Phipps & Robinson.

The bright-cut engraved and pierced border of the rounded rectangular shape is especially pleasing and gives the bottle tag an extra lift of quality. The reverse side is appropriately stamped with the TP/ER maker's mark, lion passant and duty mark confirming it to be an early example from the Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson workshop (first entered their mark in 1783). The label is in fine condition.
