Runcible Spoon - Rope pattern - Circa 1925 by Georg Jensen - 145mm long; 25g - Ref. No.: ES/1646

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A rare example of a silver runcible spoon (aka pickle or chutney spoon or spork) made by one of the most important silversmiths of the 20th century. Rope pattern was one of Jensens' own designs and is also known as Perle Pattern. It is in excellent original condition and bears Jensen workshop marks for the 1920's.

The runcible spoon appears in two works by Edward Lear: The Owl & The Pussy Cat ("They dined on mince and slices of quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon") and Twenty-Six Nonsense Rhymes and Pictures ("The Dolomphious Duck, who caught Spotted Frogs for her dinner with a Runcible Spoon").
