Silver Stilton Scoops

First appearing in the late 18th century, silver stilton scoops are now highly sought after, both as a collectable antiques and as a practical item. Made for serving soft cheese, the earliest examples tended to have ivory or bone handles, towards the middle of the 19th Century they also appeared in the standard pattern form.

They have deep sided trough-shaped bowls and should be made of sturdy construction. Interesting variants have a sliding mechanism to help push the cheese on to a plate.
