Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This rare survivor is a late 17th century silver patch box with chased decoration and pull-off cover. It is slightly taller than other contemporary patch boxes and has a fabulous flaming heart pierced by two arrows to the centre of the lid within a flower-head surround. Unusually the sides are also decorated with a combination of Tudor roses, twisted rope and crossed squares. the underside of the base is clearly marked with a maker's mark of a conjoined "PC", although it could also be "RC". This fabulous box is in fine condition.

Provenance: The Lion Collection. This box is illustrated and discussed in "British Silver Boxes: 1640 to 1840: The Lion Collection" as box number 38.
