Parker & Wakelin Spirit Kettle on Stand, 1773

This stunning silver tea kettle on stand is a large, impressive size and benefits from bearing the marks of the sought after silversmithing partnership of Parker & Wakelin. Comprising a large capacity kettle with leather bound carrying handle, a triangular stand with three scallop feet and three upright arms and a removable spirit burner with pull-off cover and central wick holder, this three-part set is of the highest quality and has a very attractive appearance. The kettle has a pull-off cover with gadroon border and finial and a large bulbous body with a generous capacity of 4 pints. The condition is excellent throughout and each piece has a clear and matching set of hallmarks for Parker & Wakelin. A fabulous piece of 18th century hollowware.

Parker & Wakelin were one of the most important silversmithing firms of the 18th century. They were the follow-on business to the Royal Goldsmith George Wickes and the company eventually evolved in to the prestigious retailers Garrard and Company.
