Sorry, this item is out of stock.

We are very fortunate indeed to be able to offer three Hanoverian Rattail table spoons by the all time greatest English Silversmith - Paul De Lamerie. We are offering the spoons individually, although they are all very similar in terms of quality and condition.

Paul De Lamerie is considered the most important English silversmith and produced silver for royalty and the aristocracy. Each of these spoons bears an intricate engraved coat-of-arms to the reverse terminals. The spoons have a very hefty weight and there hefty gauge has ensured that they have survived in fine condition with full bowls. The spoons have a lovely patina .

The hallmarks are generally worn, however the all important makers' mark has been deeply struck to each and remain clearly legible. The date letter "H" is also visible to each spoon, but the other Britannia Standard marks cannot be read. The makers mark is the famous "La" mark which denotes that the silver is Britannia Standard, even though the Sterling Standard had once again become an option in 1720 - De Lamerie was one of the very few silversmiths who continued to use the more pure/expensive Britannia Standard after the restoration of Sterling.
