Marrow Scoop - Double-ended - London circa 1715 by Paul De Lamerie - 20.6cm long; 43g - TJ/9465a</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is an extremely rare example of a marrow scoop made by the greatest English silversmith of all time - Paul De Lamerie. With its good solid weight and flat central shank, this scoop just exudes high quality. It bears two crests to the larger scoop and is clearly stamped with the "LA" new standard maker's mark entered at Goldsmiths Hall by De Lamerie in 1713. This was De Lamerie's first mark entered soon after his apprenticeship with Pierre Platel had been concluded and so the scoop is an early piece by this master and made around the time he gained the Royal patronage of King George I. Small affordable pieces by De Lamerie are scarce and this is a great example.
