Spoon - Seal-top - London 1579 by Patrick Brue - 160mm long; 40g weight - Ref. No.: HC/1228

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This fine quality Elizabethan spoon bears the mark of the most important top spoon making workshops of the 16th and early 17th centuries. The mullet over annulet mark for the 1579 period has been attributed by Piers Percival as belonging to Patrick Brue.

The condition of this spoon is very good with a full and unworn fig-shaped bowl and a fine hexagonal tapering handle. The cast seal top terminal has some wear and is later engraved with baptismal initials dating to 1644.

The spoon has an excellent patina and the clear set of hallmarks are a real bonus.
