Spoon - Seal top - London 1639 by Thomas Hodges - 16.6cm long; 46g - AM/7857

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a superb example of a Charles I period silver seal top spoon with a clear set of hallmarks. The condition is simply superb - just look at the thick rim to the bowl and the crisp, well-detailed, cast seal finial that retains its original gilding and dot-pricked betrothal initials to the flat plate.

The leopard's head mark to the bowl is documentary and the stem marks remain clear and include a conjoined "TH" maker's mark within a pelleted circle which almost certainly belonged to Thomas Hodges. A great spoon and as good as you get for the period!
