17th C provincial spoons can often be tricky to attribute to a precise date, maker or origin and this attractive silver seal top spoon ticks two of those boxes. The spoon has a single five petal flower mark that we have so far been unable to attribute - probably southern England by an unknown maker, however the dot-pricked initials to the flat, gilt plate of the terminal show a dated betrothal "WC" over "WC" over "62" (denoting 1662). The spoon has a good looking cast seal and full-shaped bowl. It is in fine condition with a clear single bowl mark. With a precise attribution this spoon will no doubt prove a great investment.
