Spoon - Seal top - London 1597 by William Cawdell - 16.8cm long; 41g - NK/7246</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

William Cawdell was one of the most prolific spoonmakers of the late Tudor and early Stuart periods and this spoon is one of his trademark pieces. This Elizabethan period spoon is in excellent condition with the addition of a later engraved crest to the bowl; this latter feature and the wear to the bowl mark are the main reasons for the very competitive price.

The bowl retains its original shape with no wear and the cast seal terminal has its fine detail. A major bonus for this spoon are the excellent set of stem marks, with a particularly clear date letter and maker's mark. This is a pleasing spoon at a very fair price.
