Entree Dish - Square - London 1788 by Robert Sharp - 24cm square x 13cm high; 1360g - BF/5587
The majority of silver entree dishes are oblong, with some oval in form, but this example is a pleasing square-shape.
Made by the top maker Robert Sharp, this Georgian silver serving dish has a domed, lift-off cover with serpent handle. It has a lovely feel in the hand and the quality is enhanced by the presence of an original engraved crest to one side of the cover and to the base.
The dish was once part of a larger set and both pieces are numbered "4" and include their original scratch weights. This handsome entree dish is in excellent condition with an all over antique patina and some typical, light knife scratches from use to the inside base. There are neither dents nor other negative issues.
