The Service

We are pleased to be offering an outstanding early 21st Century silver canteen of cutlery in Old English Bead Pattern. The set provides for a full formal table service with twelve pieces per 12 place settings and a good array of serving items.

The service is beautifully presented in a three-tier wooden box with lift-up lid and hinged gate leg securing flaps. All the dining pieces have their own slot to prevent scuffing with neighbours, whilst some of the smaller serving pieces are stored in a compartment at the back of the lowest drawer and the soup ladle is supplied separate in a drawstring felt pouch.

The variety of pieces contained within this service provides great flexibility to cater for all dining requirements. In addition to the standard pieces, the pastry or cake forks are a welcome bonus, the steak knives are a particularly useful addition and the wide range of serving items should prove ample.

Every piece was made in Sheffield 2005, marked for Arthur Price and benefits from being in superb polished condition with no personalised engraving. As usual, the sets of table, dessert knives and steak knives, together with the butter knives, cheese knife, pie slice and carving set all have silver handles with stainless steel blades – forty three pieces in total.

Old English Bead Pattern

The plain version of Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770, but by 1780 new variants with minimal decoration along the edges had been introduced. Bead pattern was one of the first and has continued to be a particular favourite due to its elegant, simple form.
