Wine Label - HOCK; Navette with pierced border - London circa 1775 by Susannah Barker - 5cm wide - ZO/1910
This is a very attractive Georgian silver wine label titled for HOCK and made by the lady silversmith Susanna Barker. Hock is the British term for German-made wine such as Riesling.
The label takes a navette form (eye-shape) and has a vertical pierced trellis around the edge enhanced with engraving. Dating from circa 1775, the label hangs from a good quality chain and is in fine antique condition.
