Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This handsome antique silver caddy spoon has a beaded border that was the height of fashion for a brief period in the years either side of 1780. In addition, the spoon has a trifurcated stem (splits into three), that although tricky to make, was a popular twist in design for early London-made caddy spoons - sadly few survive in fine condition due to their fragility, but happily this is a great example.

The front terminal of this George III period spoon is engraved with an original crest depicting an eagle with wings aloft and the reverse clearly stamped with appropriate hallmarks for a caddy spoon of the period - lion passant, date letter for 1783 (Goldsmiths Hall first punched this mark on caddy spoons in 1781) and the "GS" maker's mark in script for George Smith III.

This is an excellent early silver caddy spoon is superb condition with neither damage nor repair.
