Hunt & Roskell Tureen, 1867

This is an excellent quality two handled silver covered bowl or serving tureen. The cover is beautifully engraved and topped by a turned finial. The bowl has a top quality gadroon mount and stands on a pedestal foot.

This covered bowl is ideal for serving warm vegetables and was made by the most prestigious London retailers of the period - Hunt & Roskell who held the Royal Warrant as being "by appointment" to Queen Victoria - their maker's mark is proudly surmounted by a crown. This company were the follow-on from the company founded by Paul Storr and trading as Storr & Mortimer - as engraved under the foot. It is in excellent condition throughout.
