Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fabulous silver spoon with all the features one would hope for in a Charles I period provincially made apostle spoon. This is a large spoon with a very generously sized bowl that retains its original bowl tip and is engraved to the reverse with "*TH*" over "*IH*" over "1643" - this ties in nicely with the known working period of the maker. The handle is topped with a gilt finial in typical west country style, the apostle depicted being St. John holding a cup in his left hand and wearing a nimbus. The bowl is struck to the inside with the Exeter town mark and the back of the hexagonal stem three times with the "E" over "A" mark for Edward Anthony. This is a first class example of a West Country apostle spoon.
