Emes & Barnard Wine Funnel, 1821

Details

This fine quality wine funnel benefits from being excellent condition with its original swan-neck funnel still intact. The funnel comprises three sections: a top strainer section, a ring that can hold a muslin filter and a spout. The strainer is attractively drilled and has a cast shell hanging hook to the side and bears appropriate part hallmarks. The ring fits neatly over the rim and will hold a filter in place. The elegant spout is fully hallmarked, has three bars around the top to allow air to escape when placed in a decanter and also the bend at the end will prevent the wine from bruising (it is directed towards the side of the decanter rather allowing a long drop). Made by a premier silversmithing partnership of the period, this top quality funnel bears no personalised engravings and is in fine condition throughout.
