This a good looking, 12" long Georgian silver basting spoon that remains in fabulous condition.
The front stem is beautifully decorated with original bright-cut engraved decoration and includes a crest to the terminal of a bird holding a branch. The spoon was made by the specialist spoonmaker William Sumner and has a stunning set of hallmarks to the reverse. Also known as a stuffing, gravy or long-handled serving spoon, this is a great 18th century example.
