Crested Silver Sherry Label, 1793 Robert Barker
Sold
Wine Label - SHERRY; Cut-cornered rectangle - London 1793 by Robert Barker - 4.6cm wide - AG/3366a
This is an excellent Georgian silver SHERRY wine label made by Robert Barker during the late 18th century.
The label has a reeded rectangular form with incurved cut-corners and hangs from a chain. The "SHERRY" title has been pierced to the label and the hallmarks to the reverse have been partially lost in the process. A major bonus is the additional feature of an engraved crest located above the name, plus the label is in excellent condition too.
Robert Barker was the son of Susanna Barker and took over the running of the family business in November 1793, albeit for just a couple of years.
