Soup Ladle - Old English Pattern - London 1785 by Hester Bateman - 32.5cm long; 166g - AB/4324

This is a handsome silver soup ladle made by the important 18th century lady silversmith, Hester Bateman.

This Old English pattern soup ladle has a deep, circular bowl and is engraved with original "JS" script initials to the front terminal - the attendant engraved flourishes adding that extra piece of quality. The hallmarks include the sought after "HB" in script maker's mark and the scarce incuse duty mark. This George III period ladle remains in fine condition.
