Caddy Spoon - 'Tug Boat & Lighthouse' - London 2005 by Michael Softley (Britannia Standard) - 7.5cm long; 33g - TC/2066

This Britannia Standard silver caddy shovel has a special significance for caddy spoon collectors as it was commissioned by the Society of Caddy Spoon Collectors to commemorate the life of Captain John D Norie. John Norie was the founder of the Society and wrote the primary reference book on the subject - "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide".

Mike Softley, the silversmith who made the spoon, specialises in making silver models with a maritime theme. This spoon portrays a Trinity House tug boat and lighthouse which is appropriate for Captain Norie as he was a navigational pilot for Trinity House during his working life.

This spoon has a good hefty feel in the hand and is in excellent condition. It is embossed to the peak with "12.9.63" the date of the first meeting of the Society of Caddy Spoon Collectors, "JDN" - Norie's initials and "12.9.02" the date of Norie's passing.

The spoon is in excellent condition with clear hallmarks.
