Sold
Table Spoons (pair) - London 1752 by Elizabeth Oldfield - 21cm long; 133g combined weight - FS/1843a
This is a fabulous pair of Georgian silver table spoons made by the lady silversmith Elizabeth Oldfield.
These Hanoverian pattern antique table spoons are superbly engraved to the reverse terminals with large crests featuring a bird atop a wheatsheaf. The spoons have a lovely feel in the hand and bear bottom-struck hallmarks including two deeply struck examples of the "EO" maker's mark. This pair of silver table spoons are in excellent condition with thick bowl tips.
Elizabeth was originally married to the spoonmaker Charles Jackson, but following his death in 1748 she entered her own mark as Elizabeth Jackson and carried on the silversmithing business. She subsequently remarried and entered a further mark in her new name as Elizabeth Oldfield in late 1750.
