A very rare pair of meat carving tools in one of the patterns that epitomises the quality defining Paul Storr. Stag Hunt pattern was designed and made by Paul Storr for the Royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Rundell during the Regency period and so making this twosome especially early in date. Not only are these an early example of the pattern, but also they are particularly early examples of carving knives and forks with silver handles. Indeed the fork tines are in silver, whereas virtually all later examples were in steel, and lack the guard that was added at a later date.

Both pieces are in very good condition with just minimal wear to the texturing to the stag and hound fur - for carvers with original early 19th century knife handles they are in unusually fine order! The hunting scene is shown to both sides of each handle. A very fine and rare carving set by the most important silversmith of the 19th century.
