Toddy Ladle - Old English pattern - Dundee circa 1810 by Alexander Cameron (?) - 16.8cm long; 31g - LN/4514

This Old English pattern Scottish silver toddy ladle bears interesting marks that are possibly those of Alexander Cameron of Dundee, but further research may prove fruitful.

The four marks include the maker's mark "A.C", plus a Scottish thistle, an "I" and fourth unrecognised mark. The marks are an unusual combination for Cameron and invariably included Dundee's pot of lilies mark - the unrecognised mark on this piece is more like a pot without lilies! Furthermore, the AC mark of Cameron omitted the pellet between the letters as seen here.

The ladle has a good feeling of quality in the hand and is engraved to the front terminal with an engraved crest of a lion rampant. it is in fine condition throughout.
