Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Early 18th century silver dessert spoons are scarce, but this set of four are particularly unusual in being exceptionally early examples of the Hanoverian Rattail pattern. The spoons were made during the reign of Queen Anne; this period was dominated by the production of the Dog Nose Pattern with the transition to the Hanoverian style generally considered to be around 1715 at the accession of George I. Earlier examples do exist, but rarely as early as 1706.

The spoons are in excellent condition with good unworn bowls. The Britannia standard hallmarks are legible with good date letters, but there are no maker’s marks nor does there appear to have ever been any. The reverse terminals are engraved with a crest. A great set of rare spoons!
