Mote Spoon - Shell-back - London circa 1750 - 14.4cm long; 7.6g - KJ/9159

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fine example of a mid-18th century silver mote spoon. the spoon has the bonus of a fancy back shell motif to the revers of the bowl, adjacent to which is an original ownership initial "L". The single maker's mark is typically mis-struck (rarely are they cleanly struck on such a narrow stem), but may well be "IC" or "EC". The bowl is attractively pierced with crosslets and scrolls and there is a diamond-point terminal to the end of the stem. The spoon is in excellent condition.
