Silver Caddy Spoon with Betrothal Triangle, 1812
Sold
Caddy Spoon - Spoked Wheel Bowl - Birmingham 1812 by Joseph Taylor - 6.8cm long - LS/1177
This is a rather unusual model of silver caddy spoon for Joseph Taylor with an old fashioned style of personal engraving to the terminal.
Similar to the fiddle pattern, the spoon has an engraved square terminal to the handle and a circular bowl with a spoked wheel centre. The handle is engraved with a betrothal triangle in the manner of the mid-18th century, where the upper "C" denotes the surname of the happy couple and the "W" and "M" their respective first names.
The spoon is in good order with some scratched codes adjacent to the legible hallmarks.
