Liqueuir Label - Reeded navette shape - London 1800 by John Emes - 3.3cm wide - FR/3964

This George III silver bottle ticket bears the title "Liqueur" with an additional letter "I" charmingly inserted as the penultimate letter. Without a dictionary to refer to, misspellings on silver wine labels were not unusual and often the best-guess at the correct version was used.

This bottle label was made in London by John Emes who was one of the major London silversmiths at the end of the 18th century and dawn of the 19th century. It is in fine good condition with good, clear hallmarks.
