This George III silver wine label was made by the top London workshop of Phipps & Robinson.
The label is a plain, elongated, rectangular wine label engraved with the title "MOUNTAIN". It is hallmarked to the reverse with the London date letter for 1789 and the top half of the TP/ER maker's mark.
Mountain is a sweet dessert wine from the hills around Malaga in Spain and was the predecessor of Sherry in the UK, being replaced by the latter circa 1790.
