Spoon - Dog-nose - Lewes circa 1700 by Robert Colgate - 178mm long; 39g - VT/8905

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare dog nose table spoon from the Sussex town of Lewes. The spoon bears the fleur-de-lys mark (twice) that is recognised as a town mark for Lewes, plus the "RC" makers mark for Robert Colgate. The bowl of the spoon has been re-shaped and a little bright, but in our opinion the rarity appeal of this spoon outweighs the condition issue. The marks are in good order and the reverse terminal bears an engraved betrothal triangle.
