Wine Label - Cape - London 1826 by Mary Ann & Charles Reilly - 4.6cm wide - ST/4591

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Referring to the wines of South Africa, this Georgian silver wine label bears the pierced name "CAPE" to the front.

This cut-cornered rectangular bottle ticket is in fine condition and bears a full set of London hallmarks for the mother and son partnership of Mary & Charles Reily and dates from the reign of King Gerge IV.

Mary Reily was the widow of John Reily and had previously entered a mark in the 1790's in combination with her future husband as Mary Hyde and John Riley (Reily). John Reily entered his own mark in 1801, as presumably Mary took a back seat, until once again she resumed the reins in 1826 following his death. The mark was used for just three years, as by 1829 Charles Reily went into partnership with George Storer.
