Caddy Spoon - Pierced & Engraved Handle and Fluted Bowl - Sheffield 1785 by John Love & Co. - 7.4cm long - HF/5038

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Early period Sheffield-made silver caddy spoons are quite scarce and this is a great example with the bonus of the incuse duty mark.

Made by John Love & company, this Georgian silver caddy spoon has  particularly handsome handle with a pierced design to the centre and bright-cut engraved edging. The original engraved ownership initials "JW" are placed either side of the handle and the bowl is fluted.

This fine looking George III caddy spoon features the incuse duty mark used between December 1784 and May 1786 that is not often seen on Sheffield-made pieces. The hallmarks are located on the reverse side of the handle and are clearly legible. This spoon is in fine condition and a great example of an early Sheffield silver caddy spoon.
