Table Spoon - Old English pattern - London 1779 by Hester Bateman - 21.5cm long; 56g - LK/4163

This is a great example of a Hester Bateman silver table spoon with excellent marks for the "Queen of English Silversmiths".

Dating from the George III period, this Old English pattern table spoon is elaborately engraved with a complex monogram in script to the front terminal.  The bottom-struck marks are in fine, crisp condition and curiously with this spoon you get two "HB" maker's marks - a smaller one over-striking a larger example! The condition of the spoon is excellent with a good, unworn bowl and antique patina.
