Salt Pots (pair) - Circular on Peestal Foot; Gilt Interiors - London 1801 by Paul Storr - 9.3cm diameter; 5cm high; 415g combined weight - KV/4792

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fabulous quality pair of George III silver-gilt salt pots made by Paul Storr.

With a weight of almost 7 troy ounces, each salt cellar has a hefty feel in the hand and is typical of the quality one would expect from the premier silversmith of the 19th century. The interiors are richly gilded to protect the silver from the corrosive effects of salt.

These are quite large salts and so could be put to plenty of other uses too. They are circular in form, stand on a pedestal foot and have a gadroon rim around the top and around the foot. A contemporary to manufacture crest can be found to the body of each and underside both are stamped with a number ("6" and "9") as they were part of a much larger original set.

These salt pots are hallmarked for London 1801 and are early examples from the Storr workshop. They are in excellent condition.
