Table Spoon - Old English Pattern - London 1790 by Peter & Jonathan Bateman - 22.5cm long; 65g - PA/4319

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Silver made by the partnership of Peter and Jonathan Bateman is rare and this table spoon is a great example of their work. Fashioned in the Old English pattern, this silver table spoon bears an engraved crest of  a heart to the front terminal and a clear set of hallmarks, including the sought after PB/IB maker's mark, to the reverse. This George III period spoon is in excellent condition.

Peter and his brother Jonathan were sons of the famous Hester Bateman and their short lived partnership was cut short due to the premature death of Jonathan. All pieces with their makers mark bear the date letter "p" for 1790/1 as they worked for only 6 months during this date letter year.
