Table Spoon - Hanoverian Shell-back - London 1736 by Samuel Hutton - 20.5cm long; 66g - TD/4077

This is a high quality George II period silver table spoon with shell motif to the reverse of the bowl.

Made by Samuel Hutton and bearing a clear example of his "SH" maker's mark, this table spoon has a good, solid weight and nice balance in the hand. It has everything you could wish for as an early example of a fancy back table spoon. The early example of the scallop shell motif is crisp and the central ridge running down the front of the spoon is well defined.

The condition is superb! The bowl tip retains its thick rim and the spoon is free from any damage or wear. Together with the excellent patina, makes this a first class example of its type.
